Director’s Biography: ROZE
Roze was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, USA. In 1994 he moved to Arizona and began his career in the entertainment industry as a singer/songwriter until a wrist injury ended his guitar-playing career in 2002. Roze then transferred his talents to filmmaking while studying at The Film School at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona. His first short film, All Dogs, premiered at the Scottsdale Film Festival and received three awards including Best Sound Design, Best Special Effects and Best Experimental Film. Roze’s next film, MOM, another experimental short, garnered him five awards and also premiered in the 2005 Phoenix International Film Festival. Roze continued to work in the film industry as a Production Designer until his third short film Denial, which became an Official Selection of the Moving Picture Magazine Short Film Contest. Denial had private screenings at both the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and the 2007 Cannes International Film Market. In 2007, Roze founded his own production company, Gas Mask Films, and contracted as the Director of Creative Services for the distribution company Maitland Primrose from 2007 – 2008. Then in October of 2008, Roze wrote, produced and directed his first feature film, Deadfall Trail. Roze currently has several new projects in development and is scheduled to go into production by the end of 2009.
